The story
Built for Mr. Foroz Alam on a 36 ft × 45 ft plot in Bodhgaya — the city of Buddha — this commercial building gives a premium clothing and retail business a genuinely landmark façade. Gothic-inspired detailing drives the design: pointed and arched openings, ornamental mouldings, classical columns and deep cornices are composed across an Upper Ground plus two floors, totalling roughly 4,500 sq. ft. of built-up area.
Large, transparent glazing at street level creates a strong visual connection between the shops and the surrounding pedestrian frontage, while a dramatic symmetrical staircase lifts the entrance above an integrated arched parking area below. Greenery and a pedestrian-friendly setting tie the building into its commercial context.
The result is a distinctive retail landmark that pairs Gothic character and ornamental elegance with the practical demands of a contemporary commercial frontage.
